Supporting reconstruction

Among other things, Denmark has taken on a special role in the reconstruction of the city of Mykolaiv.

Mykolaiv

For the reconstruction of the city of Mykolaiv, one emergency package, construction machinery and other equipment have been donated.

Denmark also supports the reconstruction of Ukraine's energy sector.

Supporting reconstruction

Below you can see a list of the donations so far that support both the reconstruction of Mykolaiv and other efforts to rebuild Ukraine. The two emergency packages amount to DKK 274.1 million:

First emergency package

The funds in the first emergency package went specifically to the reconstruction of the water, energy and heat supply systems in Mykolaiv.

Second emergency package

The second emergency package went particularly to the reconstruction of critical infrastructure in the energy sector, including the purchase of generators, water pipes and heating systems.

Infrastructure

Together with the two emergency packages, DKK 36 million has been donated through Danida Sustainable Infrastructure Finance (DSIF). In agreement with the authorities in Mykolaiv, the long-term cooperation will focus on Danish special competences, e.g. green transition, water supply, shipping, transport, infrastructure, good governance and business development.

Other aid for reconstruction

Construction machinery: A total of 94 construction machines have been purchased and donated. This includes large excavators, front loaders, backhoe loaders, trucks and trailers for heavy equipment, etc. The donation is based on a direct request from the Ukrainian side with a desire for different types of construction equipment to be used for clean-up after the ongoing Russian invasion.

Equipment parts: In close dialogue with the Danish Embassy in Ukraine and the Danish Board of District Heating (DBDH), the Danish Energy Agency has collected a donation of 53 new equipment parts, including water pumps, valves and electrodes, from Grundfos, Broen and Hydro-X going to the Mykolaiv region.

Financing of equipment: Donation through Ukraine Energy Support Fund (Energy Community). Donated after a request was received from Ukraine to the EU for donations of equipment and fuel (or funds to finance them) to maintain energy supplies.
